FIRS/IRS

Fibre Integrated Reception Systems (F-IRS)

As a member of the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) Trusol can design and install any size or type of F-IRS system for your project.

The ability to distribute these TV and radio services throughout the largest of buildings has taken us to the tallest of the UK skyscrapers to fit satellite and aerial systems.

About F-IRS

Intergrated Reception Systems (IRS) have historically delivered satellite and terrestrial television services through hotels, commercial properties and leisure facilities using satellite dishes and aerial arrays with coaxial analogue cabling systems and signal amplifiers.

Fibre integrated reception systems (F-IRS) distribute satellite and terrestrial TV, Digital Audio Broadcast Radio (DAB) and FM Radio throughout very large facilities or campuses using singlemode fibre. This negates all of the signal losses associated with long cable runs in the former method and allows quality signaling to be distributed without any interference across a very reliable and effective cable medium – glass.

The signals are harnessed in exactly the same way as with any satellite dish or digital TV/radio antenna array but are converted at source and injected into fibre optic cable systems using laser technologies that can carry signals for tens of kilometers with negligible signal losses. These fibres can be split up to 32 times without further signal amplification, meaning the system is easily scalable and very affordable.

At the destination end, the optical signal is converted and distributed on a conventional TV cable system within each residential or work demise.

The tallest F-IRS systems deployed by Trusol to date is on the 8 Bishopsgate building in London which stands 52 floors above ground level. You certainly need a head for heights when installing the aerials and satellite dishes on the roof of these buildings.

The following photos show the F-IRS survey team on that project, assessing the best place for the satellite dishes and aerial array on the roof of 8BG
